Cost Comparison Example

Knowing the nitrogen percentage content in each fertilizer compound helps compare costs. For example, let's compare the cost of nitrogen per pound between these two common fertilizers:

Ammonium nitrate contains 35% N and costs $550 per ton.

Urea contains 46.7% N and costs $630 per ton.
